Susan Hughes Joins the 100,000 Opportunities Initiative as National Director of Employer Partnerships

Susan Hughes has just joined 100K as the National Director of Employer Partnerships and started on May 4. Susan come to 100K from World 50, where she led a private community of CFOs from across the globe. World 50 builds private, intimate peer forums (free from press, competition, and solicitation) for the leaders of the world’s largest companies with the sole purpose of helping them to share ideas and experiences that advance their efforts and organizations. In that capacity, Susan orchestrated collaboration, conversation, gatherings, and curated counsel on the topics most crucial to these global leaders. Susan also serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate School of Business at Southern New Hampshire University, teaching classes on corporate social responsibility and leadership.

Susan spent the early days of her career working in investment banking with Morgan Stanley in New York and LA and in private equity on several turnaround efforts. After business school, she spent time in strategy consulting with the Boston Consulting Group and as an independent advisor to a wide variety of organizations facing unique challenges – from businesses in start-up, high growth or change management situations to non-profits expanding their reach, impact, and efficacy. Throughout that time she also devoted a great deal of time to volunteer engagements, most of which involved her passion for mentoring youth and helping to foster their growth, success, and leadership.

Susan is currently based in Atlanta, GA but is a native of New England, and the proud mom of a son and daughter in college. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science at Yale University, and her MBA at the Harvard Business School. Her career has included extensive experience in both the for- and non-profit sectors, throughout which she has been passionate about mentoring young people on both their educational and early career journeys.

Joining the team at 100K to build the coalition of employers committed to advancing opportunity youth is a perfect marriage of her experience and passion, and she is excited to embrace the potential of this initiative and the many youth it will serve.
